Evidence finding
Based on BT's own materials: SD-WAN is the underlying network layer (application-aware routing across MPLS/broadband/4G-5G); SASE is SD-WAN plus a converged security layer delivered from the cloud. BT explicitly frames its Nov 2024 SASE launch as helping customers 'seamlessly transition from managed SD-WAN to secure access service edge (SASE)' - i.e. BT positions SASE as SD-WAN's natural next step, adding FWaaS/SWG/CASB/ZTNA on top of the existing SD-WAN base rather than as a wholly separate product.
