When it comes to reselling BT Business broadband, WiFi is one of the easiest upsells to attach, though knowing which access type, tier and hardware combination to actually lead with can be difficult to get right. Whether that's Smart Hub 3 with Complete Wi-Fi Plus mesh, or Cisco Meraki access points on Ultra, every element of the bundle pays its own commission
In this guide we'll cover exactly how to sell BT Business Broadband, which access type to lead with, which tier to pitch and how to stack commission lines on a single customer.
1. Why Reselling BT Business WiFi Is a High-Value Revenue Stream
Whilst most resellers think of broadband as the main sale, BT Business WiFi is genuinely the highest-leverage attach going, because it turns one connectivity sale into multiple commission lines on the same customer. Typically, this includes:
- Broadband itself,
- Mesh Wi-Fi,
- The likes of optional Cloud Voice Express or CrowdStrike endpoint security on top.
As to be expected, the exact upsell path depends on the access type and tier a customer's on, however the underlying logic is essential the same across the board. FTTP and SOGEA both support the latest Wi-Fi hardware, so a reseller can sell SOGEA where FTTP isn't available at a premises and still unlock Smart Hub 3 and mesh coverage on Pro tier, meaning the access type itself doesn't cap what you can upsell into. Pro and Ultra tiers, meanwhile, lock the customer into BT's managed Wi-Fi solution, who then have fewer realistic churn opportunities for a competitor to pick off, and higher residual value for the reseller over the life of the contract.
The commercial pitch in one line: one sale, multiple commission lines, broadband plus mesh Wi-Fi plus optional Cloud Voice Express and CrowdStrike, all on the same customer, same invoice, same renewal date.
2. FTTP & SOGEA - The Two Access Types That Carry BT's Latest Business WiFi
Similarly to the tiers themselves, the access type a customer's on will also determine what Wi-Fi hardware they can actually get, so it's worth getting familiar with the two options resellers will come across most:
- FTTP (Full Fibre to the Premises),
- SOGEA (fibre to the cabinet plus a copper last mile).
FTTP delivers speeds up to 900Mbps down and around 104Mbps up, and ships with Smart Hub 3 (Wi-Fi 6) as standard, which makes it the best vehicle for selling Complete Wi-Fi Plus mesh or Ultra's Meraki access points, given that the underlying connection can actually deliver the speeds the hardware's capable of. See BT Business broadband and full fibre packages for current availability.
SOGEA, on the other hand, delivers speeds up to 76-80Mbps and ships with Smart Hub 2 as standard, however Pro tier upgrades a SOGEA customer to Smart Hub 3 plus Complete Wi-Fi Plus, which is a key upsell lever in areas where FTTP isn't yet available.
Reseller action: we'd always recommend checking availability for both access types at the point of quoting. Lead with FTTP plus Pro or Ultra for maximum Wi-Fi capability and the strongest commission outcome, and fall back to SOGEA plus Pro where FTTP isn't available, so the customer still gets the latest hub and full mesh coverage.
3. Smart Hub 3 & Complete Wi-Fi Plus - The Core Business Mesh Product to Resell
Smart Hub 3 is the foundation of the whole Wi-Fi sale, and it's genuinely worth knowing the spec inside out before pitching it: a Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) dual-band router with seven antennas, WPA3 security and MU-MIMO, capable of supporting the full 900Mbps FTTP speeds mentioned above. It's issued as standard on every FTTP connection and on SOGEA Pro, so in most cases you won't need to sell it in separately, it just comes with the tier. Full spec detail sits on BT's Smart Hub 3 setup guide.
Complete Wi-Fi Plus, meanwhile, is a true single-SSID mesh system rather than a set of separate repeaters, which matters commercially because it's a much easier thing to explain to a customer who's had a bad experience with cheap mesh kit before. It's included as standard on Pro, or available as an add-on on Essential and Enhanced, and it starts with just one disc (which is enough for most premises), with up to five extra discs supplied free if needed. Setup detail is on BT's Complete Wi-Fi Plus setup guide.
Expert Setup, who BT include as standard on Pro, sends an engineer out to optimise Smart Hub 3 placement and install up to four additional mesh discs only where they're actually required, backed by a guarantee of strong coverage across the main business premises or the customer can leave penalty-free.
In our experience, Pro plus Complete Wi-Fi Plus is the highest-volume Wi-Fi attach in the whole portfolio. Engineer-installed mesh reduces support tickets landing back on the reseller and increases the customer's perceived value of the contract, which in practice means an easier renewal conversation and higher lifetime commission per customer.
4. Ultra Broadband WiFi Capability - Higher-Tier Resell Opportunity (Meraki Mesh)
As with Pro, Ultra is positioned strictly as the next Wi-Fi upsell in the ladder, for customers who need enterprise-grade coverage and management rather than the likes of standard mesh discs. See Netify's guide to BT Business Broadband Ultra with Meraki and BT's own Ultra Broadband guide for full detail.
Ultra comes with one Cisco Meraki access point included as standard, with up to two additional Meraki APs supplied by the installing engineer at no extra charge if the site needs them, up to three APs total, which creates a business-grade mesh network that replaces Complete Wi-Fi discs entirely, and with no extra cabling required either. There's also a cloud dashboard included, giving a single view of the entire Wi-Fi network down to individual users and devices, a strong differentiator when pitching to multi-site or multi-device businesses who need visibility a standard mesh setup just can't offer. On top of that, 4G failover is included as standard, so the Meraki Wi-Fi network stays live even if the fixed line goes down.
Ultra is available on both SOGEA and FTTP, from around £133 per month (positioned against Pro at £79.95 per month) as the security-plus-Wi-Fi step-up for customers who need more than mesh discs can deliver.
5. Tier Ladder for the Reseller - Which WiFi Package to Lead With
| Tier | WiFi Hardware | Commercial Note |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Base broadband only; Complete Wi-Fi Plus is a paid add-on | Lowest commission vehicle - use only when price is the customer's sole objection |
| Enhanced | Hybrid Backup and static IP; Complete Wi-Fi Plus remains an add-on | Good mid-tier option when resilience matters but managed mesh is not required |
| Pro | Smart Hub 3, Complete Wi-Fi Plus mesh, Expert Setup, Prompt Care and Wi-Fi Security Controls | Primary recommendation for most business WiFi requirements |
| Ultra | Cisco Meraki security appliance, one Meraki access point with up to two additional access points where required, cloud dashboard and 4G backup | Use for managed multi-access-point coverage, cloud visibility or stronger security hardware |
6. Commission Rates That Make WiFi Reselling Worth It
Resellers earn commission of up to 21% on qualifying BT Business broadband sales, and 17.5% on the Complete Wi-Fi / Complete Wi-Fi Plus value-added service, on top of separate commission available on Cloud Voice Express and CrowdStrike endpoint security when bundled in too. Exact rates vary by product, connection type and sale scenario, whether that's new business, resign or upgrade, and the full rate card itself is confidential to Authorised Suppliers, so we'd always recommend confirming current figures with your Netify partner manager before quoting a specific rate to a prospective reseller.
There's no joining fees and no minimum sales targets attached to the programme either, which is genuinely one of the easier things to lead with when you're pitching the programme itself to a prospective partner, rather than getting bogged down in exact percentages upfront.
7. Bundling Strategy - Stack Commission Lines on Every WiFi Sale
We'd always encourage partners to bundle rather than sell WiFi as a standalone product, and here's why: broadband, Complete Wi-Fi Plus or Ultra's Meraki APs, Cloud Voice Express and CrowdStrike Detect & Respond each pay their own separate commission line, so a customer who only ends up buying broadband and mesh Wi-Fi is genuinely half the deal you could've closed.
Say a Pro tier customer takes broadband, Wi-Fi, CVE and CrowdStrike together, that's four commission lines on one invoice instead of one, and it's the same sales conversation either way, just a slightly longer pitch.
8. Reselling Process - Practical Steps for the Partner
We'd break the actual reselling process down into six practical steps for partners:
- Qualify the premises for FTTP or SOGEA.
- Lead with Pro for standard managed business WiFi requirements.
- Use Ultra when the customer needs Meraki access points, cloud visibility or stronger managed security hardware.
- Confirm the coverage requirement and whether additional mesh discs or access points are needed.
- Confirm resilience requirements, including Hybrid Backup or 4G failover.
- Quote through the Netify authorised partner route. BT handles the customer contract, installation, billing and support.
